Hey kids! It was a treat having a snow day on Friday. I hope everyone is done with shoveling. I know it took forever for me to shovel at my house. I could have used some help for sure! Finding Pictures and Photostory Tutorial

Okay, so we have researched biomes. You have written in those boxes in that chart (which is due Monday). Now what do we do with that information? We will be creating a photostory. Your job next is to find at least 2-3 pictures of the vegetation for each biome, 2-3 pictures of the animals from each biome and 1 good overall picture of each biome! Save these in a folder. Put them on a storage device. (I will give you time in class, but you can get a jump start this weekend) Label the folder biome pictures. I used the search engine google and searched using the images directory. It took me less than an hour to find tons of pictures. Right click copy on the image then paste it into the folder! It is that easy.

OR you can watch this tutorial regarding google images and how to save them.

Food Web Project in Full Effect

So today we started our food web project. We will be working on it in class Tuesday and Wednesday. If you are celebrating Eid Tuesday or Wednesday and not coming to school you can work on it at home!
Here are a few pointers:

Color code the arrows. For example, draw all the arrows to the deer in the same color. That makes it easy to follow.
The energy flows into the organism that is eating a particular thing. Think of that consumers as putting the food in their bellys!
Use your map that we did in class to help you out.
This is supposed to be fun. Be creative. Take your time. NEATNESS COUNTS!

I Think Decomposers are Cool!

The idea of organisms being broken down into simpler substances by decomposers really intrigues me! Decomposers are vital to the Earth's ecosystems. Just think, without them the ground would be littered with dead things from over the years - YUCKO!!!! Also decomposers recycle the nutrients back into the soil.

Next week we are going to create our own food web. I am looking forward to seeing how well you understand how energy flows through an ecosystem. I will be passing out a sheet on Friday that details what you have to find. You will using your Internet or computer to look for pictures of specific plants and animals. So, I hope you look forward to working on a BIG PROJECT!!!
